Bell Curve's "Transmissions From A Dying AI" is a collection alien bass vignettes that process anxiety, hope, desperation, joy and isolation. Assembled over two years, the tracks explore a range of styles and ideas, transforming and mutating underground club, footwork, jungle and abstract bass sounds into vital new forms.

The EP was inspired by Ann Leckie's "Imperial Radch" trilogy, a sci fi series about an AI-controlled spaceship and its crew of AI-controlled formerly-human soldiers. In the books, the artificial intelligence gathers thousands of songs from different places in the process of annexation - or colonization - creating a living archive of cultural history in a way that no human ever could, or would.

Bell Curve reflects this concept by forming tracks from fragments of disparate sounds. These transmissions are outsider cultural mashups sent out for connection and understanding during a time of great cultural alienation and destruction. As we face the absorption of every creative idea into the market, where they are repackaged and disembodied from their original context, there is a growing sense of creative numbness and fatigue. Countless recycled sounds and aesthetics ring around in a din of vague familiarity. "Transmissions From A Dying AI" cuts through the noise, looking to space for the otherworldly inspiration needed to transmit hope through the anxiety here on earth.

Bell Curve is a NYC based producer and DJ, and runs hybrid bass label Worst Behavior Recs with Anna Morgan.
